William D. Reed, Sr.

Dover – William D. Reed, Sr., 91, of 30 Holiday Drive, formerly of Shady Lane died Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Bremen, OH, January 6, 1921 the son of William and Sarah (Henderson) Reed. A Veteran of WWII and Korea, Bill served in the US Air Force for 22 years, where he was an engineer and line chief and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1962.

He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and the Enlisted Association. He was a former member of the Dover Kiwanis Club and the Sunningdale Golf Club. Bill was an avid golfer having played as recently as a month ago, and was an avid traveler.

The widower of Betty (Perry) Reed who died in 2002 he is survived by two sons William D. Reed, Jr. of Niceville, FL, Timothy P. Reed and his wife Lois of Dover, four grandchildren Leigh Reed and husband Tim Shaw, Joshua Reed, Andrea Terry Torrez and husband Edward and Leslie Lourie and husband Michael, and four great-grandchildren Mykah Lourie, Gabriel Torrez, Grant Shaw and Peyton Shaw and two nieces Peggy Mohler and Julie Hammill.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday May 29th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m.Wednesday at Tasker Funeral Home, burial with military honors will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.

Flowers are acceptable, and those who wish are invited to make memorials in his name to the charity of one’s own choice.
