Arthur Carleton

Somersworth- Arthur Carleton, 82, of Sherwood Glen died on Tuesday June 26, 2012 at Hyder Family Hospice House after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

Born November 20, 1929 in Boston, MA the son of Amos L. and Edith (Hawkes) Carleton. He graduated from Bangor Maine High School, Class of 1948. During the Korean War he served in the Navy. Following his time in the Navy Arthur studied at Northeastern University fro two years to become a machinist. He worked for H.K. Porter in Somerville, MA, Western Electric/AT&T in North Andover, MA.

Arthur enjoyed fishing, dancing, gardening, tinkering in his shed repairing small engines, playing cards, horseshoes, bowling and was a jack of all trades. He and his wife enjoyed their retirement in Florida for the last 15 years.

He was an active life member and past commander of the VFW Post 1088 in Kingston, NH. While he lived in Somersworth he transferred to Post 4485 in Somersworth.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 51 years Marion R. Carleton of Somersworth; a son, Scot Carleton of Methuen, MA; two daughters, Ruth Halpin of Tamworth, NH and Cherylyn Butler of Barrington, NH; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday June 29, 2012 at 11am at Greenwood Cemetery in Kingston, NH.
