Dorothy May Knight
South Berwick- Dorothy May Knight, 85, of 190 Knight's Pond Road, South Berwick, Maine died at her home on Friday, July 13, 2012.
Born on May 8, 1927 to Albert and Marie (Rivet) Lassor in Meridan, CT, she spent her youth in both Rutland, VT and Rollinsford, NH before making her permanent home in South Berwick. Her interests included music and dancing, most recently becoming an active participant in the activities at the South Berwick Senior Center, her favorite being Wednesday afternoon line-dancing.
Dorothy excelled at needlepoint, winning several ribbons at the Rochester Fair for her articulate embroidery. In 2011, at the age of 84, she took home the coveted "Judges Choice" award for her beautiful artistry. Her passion, however, was undoubtedly, her family.
Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband, Keith G. Knight and his wonderful family who welcomed Dorothy into their lives many years ago. She leaves behind her six daughters and their families, Paul and Sandra LaPanne Richardson of Rochester, NH; William and Judy LaPanne Kast and Barbara LaPanne Lacroix of South Berwick; Jerry and Cathy LaPanne Maillard of Ettewa, NC, Connie Schoff Lee of North Berwick and Steve and Tina Schoff Lincoln of South Berwick. Her remaining siblings include brothers Leonard Lassor of Rochester, Richard Lassor of Florida and sisters Rita Taylor and Joan Landry of Dover, Jean Chasse of Rochester, Theresa Stevens of Somersworth and Helen Mundy of Florida. She was loved and will be deeply missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as her extended family, friends and furry companion, Smokey. After forty years apart, she is now reunited with her only son, Gary Dean Schoff, who predeceased her in 1972.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday July 17, 2012 at McIntire McCooey Funeral Home 301 Main St South Berwick, ME from 2-4 pm. A funeral service will follow at the Funeral Home. After the service everyone is invited to the South Berwick Senior Center for a time of fellowship and refreshment.
