Viola (Kimball) Chagnon

South Berwick- Viola (Kimball) Chagnon, 91, of Union Street died at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough on Friday July 27 2012.

Born January 27, 1921 in South Berwick the daughter of Harry and Ethel Kimball. She was a graduate of Berwick Academy and ran her own hair salon, Viola’s.

Viola loved to do crafts and enjoyed her summers at her camp in Lyman, ME. She was an active member at the South Berwick Senior Center and loved to bowl and line dance. She loved being with her family and friends no matter what the occasion was.

She is survived by son Rod Lavigne and his wife Diane of South Berwick; a daughter Irene Cos of Rochester; a brother Calvin Kimball of FL; five sisters Lillian Stevens of Wells, ME, Elizabeth Lane of South Berwick, Janet Johnson of Wells, ME, Natalie Clark of Washington and Mandy Couette of Hudson, NH; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a very special friend Vinny Marchese and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband Leo A. Lavigne; a son, Robert Lavigne and many siblings.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday July 31, 2012 from 10-11 am at the McIntire McCooey Funeral Home 301 Main St. South Berwick, ME. A service will follow at 11 am with Deacon Roger Normand officiating.

In Lieu of Flowers donations can be made to the South Berwick Senior Center 71 Norton Street South Berwick Maine 03908. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dee Dee Dionne for bringing Viola Communion on Sundays.
