Carol A. Nyberg
Somersworth – Carol A. Nyberg, 70, of Milo Lane passed away, Thursday, 11 October 2012 at the Hyder Family Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Carol was born 24 October 1941 in Lynn, Massachusetts, daughter of the late John F. and Kathleen (Curtin) Solan. Carol graduated from Saint Mary’s Girls High School, Lynn, Massachusetts class of 1959.
Carol retired on 30 June 2007, from the United States Civil Service after serving 19 years at Ramstein Air Base, Germany and 14 years at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama. Her retired grade was GS12 Publications Specialist. Carol’s previous assignments were with the United States Air Forces, Europe; namely, the Directorate of Logistics, The Judge Advocate General as a Legal Statistician, and lastly, the Directorate of Personnel. During her assignments she received many awards. The most significant awards are: The Meritorious Civilian Service Award, The Harold R. Vague Award for Outstanding Legal Services Civilian of the Year and The Paul E. Burns Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Army Materiel Equipment Publications Program. She is also a member of The Honorable Order of Molly Pitcher.
Carol enjoyed traveling the world, reading and playing golf.
Carol is survived by her husband of 45 years, Edward J. Nyberg Jr. of Somersworth, New Hampshire, a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 4, a step-son David M. Nyberg and his wife Dorinda H. of Danville, California, a brother John F. Solan, Jr. of Naples, Florida, three sisters Kathleen “Blondie” Burt and her husband Arthur of Dover, New Hampshire, Patricia Crowe of Cordova, Tennessee, Noreen Lazar and her husband Jonathan of Lynn, Massachusetts, two grandchildren Clinton E. Nyberg and Darren M. Nyberg both of San Francisco, California, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother Richard J. Solan.
Visiting hours will be Monday, 15 October 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday 16 October 2012 at the Holy Trinity Church 404 High St. Somersworth, NH. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
