Rochester, NH – George Mitropoulos, 82, of Rochester, NH died Sunday October 14, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Hora, Greece April 23, 1930 the son of Frank and Sophia Mitropoulos. He had served in the Greek Army. George married his wife Stella Karanicolopoulos on September 22, 1957 in Kalamata, Greece and moved to the United States. Stella died in 2004.
They came to Dover, NH where he became a barber. In 1968 he bought Paras Pizza in Sanford, ME. He was the heart and soul of Paras Pizza, where he spent 44 years of his life showing his dedication, passion and love.
His hobbies in life were tending to his tomato gardens, cars, playing cards and spending time at the pizza place talking with his customers.
He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Dover and the AHEPA.
He was a devoted husband and his passion in life was his family. He is survived by three sons, their wives and eight grandchildren; Frank and Tracy Mitropoulos of Gonic, NH and their children Elizabeth and Katy; Peter and Michelle Mitropoulos of Lebanon, ME and their children George, Maria, Sophia and Robert; and Nicholas and Shana Mitropoulos of Rochester and their children George and Stella.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, NH where Rd. Costin Popescu will conduct the Trisagion Service at 5:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Locust St., Dover. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery.
