Virginia L. "Ginny" Goodwin

Dover – Virginia L. “Ginny” Goodwin, 89, formerly of Arch St., passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Watson Field’s of Dover.

Ginny was born in Brighton MA on August 30, 1923, to Charles and Laura (Riel) Carey. She grew up in Laconia, NH and moved to Dover in 1939. She was a graduate of Dover High School and McIntosh Business College where she met her husband, Earle. They were married on January 10, 1946 and raised their six children on Arch Street. She worked in the family office products and printing businesses well into her 80’s. She was a founding member of the Sherwood Tennis Club and won many local, state and New England tennis titles. Ginny was also the coach for the St. Thomas Aquinas High School boy’s tennis team for over 10 years.

She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her beloved and devoted husband of 66 years, Earle Goodwin, a daughter, Marsha Goodwin-Ouellette and husband Ron of Eliot, ME; five sons, Wayne Goodwin and wife Mary of Holland, OH, David Goodwin and wife Jan of Dover, Barry Goodwin of Rockland, CA, Bryan Goodwin and wife Christine of Rollinsford, and Kevin Goodwin of Dover. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her sister Mary Beattie and her brother Bud Carey.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28th at the Parish of the Assumption, St. Mary Church on the corner of Chestnut St.and Third St. A time of fellowship will follow in the Parish Hall. There will be a private burial for the family at St. Mary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bellamy and Watson Fields for their compassionate and loving care of Ginny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to The American Diabetes Association and/or the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, NH Chapter, PO BOX 183 Londonderry, NH 03053.
