Garrett (Gary) E. Supple
Dover, NH -- Garrett (Gary) E. Supple, 59, went home to heaven on March 27, 2014 after a valiant fight against a brain tumor--glioblastoma multiforme. Throughout the 21 months he fought the disease, he maintained an incredibly positive attitude, saying “it is what it is” over and over again to those he interacted with from members of his family to the medical professionals who helped him. He never lost his sense of humor, his quick wit, and his joy of living and was a wonderful inspiration to everyone he met. Whenever anyone would ask how he was feeling, Gary would often respond with a smile and say “It’s good to be vertical.”
Gary was born on February 22, 1955 in Quincy, MA. He is the son of R. Claire (Gray) Supple, and Edward Supple. He attended Quincy, MA and Henniker, NH schools. He is a 1978 graduate of Hesser College. In 1987 he received the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTC-F) designation. He married in 1979 and has three children and a granddaughter.
An avid sportsman and outdoorsman, Gary was an excellent hunter and fisherman and appreciated the outdoors, regardless of the weather. He relished quick trips to Eustis, ME and extended trips to Labrador, CAN. His favorite sport was skiing, which he did often with his many friends. He had ‘toys’ of all sorts, from different types of boats to ATVs to all types of outdoor and sporting equipment. He loved to hike and camp, take walks at Wagon Hill with the family dog, and spend early mornings at the gym.
Gary’s professional career of over 35 years was spent helping people with their insurance and investment needs, working for The Prudential, Liberty Mutual, Anchorage Insurance and Met Life. He received awards several times over his career as sales representative and sales manager, such as: Leading Agent, Liberty Lamplighter, and Sales Manager of the Year. Gary never tired of helping clients and colleagues and was appreciated by everyone with whom he crossed paths. It seemed as if everywhere he went, there was a former or existing client, or someone else that he had helped somehow along the way.
Gary is survived by his wife of 34 years Jeanne (Tremblay) Supple, daughter Lindsay Anne (Supple) Callaghan and her husband Patrick Callaghan, granddaughter Ashlyn Anne Callaghan, son Nicholas Joseph Supple, daughter Stephanie Michelle Supple; his sister Gini (Supple) DuMars and her husband Mark, a niece Alicia Kersting, and nephew Evan Kersting, and extended family members in Massachusetts.
Visiting hours will be Friday April 4, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover.
A funeral mass will be held in celebration for Gary on Saturday April 5, at 11:00am, at Parish of the Assumption St. Joseph Catholic Church, 150 Central Ave, Dover, NH.
