Del R. Liberty
(September 18, 1943 - July 17, 2012)
Dover – Del R. Liberty, 68, of Allen St. died Tuesday July 17, 2012 at Hyder Family Hospice House. Born in Rochester September 18, 1943 the son of Willie and Cora (Plante) Liberty. He attended Dover Schools and lived here all of his life. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam era. Del’s working career started as a truck driver for the former Diamond National Lumber Co., then owned and operated Sure Gas Stations, worked at the Yield House in Dover and later was a contractor in the building trades. His hobbies included hunting, woodworking and drag racing and his passion was Corvette cars. For over 23 years he has been president of Seacoast Vettes & Mtn. Melee. He was also a member of Pease Greeters and a sponsor of Vettes to Vets Group. Del was a great storyteller, always making us laugh. He is survived by his wife Nancy (Bullis) Liberty, three children Deby Liberty Martinez and husband Ben of Quaker Hill, CT, Joshua Liberty and Melynda Liberty Hutchins and husband Chris all of Dover, two grandchildren Mikhail Morfopulos and Katerina Morfopulos and a great-grandchild Mia Morfopulos as well as many friends. Friends are invited to call Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave. Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. Chaplain Ed Vaeni will have a brief service and Saturday afternoon friends are invited to share a memory about Del.
